**Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu –** A 30-member team of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel, including nine women, received a warm welcome in Vedaranyam, Tamil Nadu on Friday. The team is undertaking a nationwide coastal security awareness cycling expedition spanning 6,553 km along India’s eastern and western coasts.
The eastern team, which arrived in Vedaranyam after starting their journey in West Bengal on March 7th, were greeted with traditional music and decorated horses. Their visit included a homage at the Salt Satyagraha Memorial in Agastiyampalli, recognizing the historical significance of the location and India’s independence struggle. CISF DIG G. Shivakumar was present for the event. The expedition, divided into two teams covering the eastern and western coasts, aims to raise awareness about national and maritime security among coastal communities. The eastern team is scheduled to conclude its journey in Kanniyakumari on March 31st.
