**Los Angeles, CA** – Bill Murray has revealed a career regret: turning down the opportunity to star alongside Clint Eastwood in a film, likely the 1986 movie *Heartbreak Ridge*. During a recent interview on “The Howard Stern Show,” Murray, 74, recounted a phone call from Eastwood where the legendary actor pitched a service comedy. Murray, fresh off the success of *Stripes*, hesitated, fearing a repeat of the Abbott and Costello formula, and ultimately declined.

“It’s one of the few regrets I have,” Murray admitted, expressing remorse over missing out on the “big-scale” production which involved World War II era boats and offered what could have been a memorable role. He even says he still apologizes to Eastwood whenever they encounter each other in Hollywood.

The interview also touched upon the recent death of Gene Hackman, with whom Murray worked on *The Royal Tenenbaums*. Murray described Hackman as “really good” but also “really difficult,” recalling instances where he intervened to defend the young director, Wes Anderson. The news of Hackman’s passing came just days after his wife’s death.
