**Chennai, March 27, 2025** – The Hindu newspaper and Naruvi Hospitals in Vellore are partnering to present a free webinar titled “Iron’s Role in Health and Disease” on March 30th at 11:30 a.m. This seventh installment in a 15-part series focusing on preventative wellness will explore the critical importance of iron in human health, the dangers of both deficiency and overload, and strategies for maintaining optimal iron levels.
The webinar will feature leading hematologists from Naruvi and Apollo Hospitals who will discuss various aspects of iron’s role in human physiology, including its impact on growth and development, diagnosis and treatment of iron deficiency, and management of iron overload. Specific topics will cover iron deficiency in adults and children, the effectiveness of the National Nutritional Anaemia Prophylaxis Programme, and dietary sources of iron. The speakers include Dr. Mammen Chandy, Dr. Mathumithra, Dr. Revathi Raj, and Dr. Ramya Uppaluri. Soma Basu, senior deputy editor of The Hindu, will moderate the discussion.
