**New Delhi, March 27, 2025** – The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted a test of the Vertically-Launched Short-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (VLSRSAM) on Wednesday. The trial, held at the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, Odisha, demonstrated the missile’s capability to engage high-speed aerial targets at very close range and low altitude.

The missile, launched from a land-based vertical launcher, successfully intercepted and destroyed its target, showcasing its agility, reliability, and accuracy. The test utilized a combat configuration, including an indigenous radio frequency seeker, a multi-function radar, and a weapon control system, all of which performed as expected. Data collected from range instruments confirmed the system’s overall performance.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lauded the successful test, calling the VLSRSAM an “excellent force multiplier” for the Indian Navy. The development marks a significant advancement in India’s naval defence capabilities.
