Wed Mar 26 15:52:46 UTC 2025: ## Madurai Ministerial Staff Sentenced to 30 Years for Child Sexual Assault
**Sivaganga, Tamil Nadu, March 26, 2025** – A special court in Sivaganga has sentenced a 44-year-old ministerial staff member from the Madurai Superintendent of Police office to 30 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl in 2021.
Balaji, the accused, threatened the victim with a toy gun during the assault while traveling back to his hometown. Following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, the Karaikudi All Women Police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
Judge Gokul Murugan found Balaji guilty on all charges and, in addition to the prison sentence, imposed a fine of ₹52,000. ₹46,000 of this fine will be paid to the victim as compensation. The court also ordered the Tamil Nadu state government to provide the victim with a solatium of ₹5 lakh.
