**Vellore, March 27, 2025** – Seven individuals have been arrested in connection with the burglary of a hotelier’s house in Mettukulam village near Katpadi, Vellore. Police recovered 40 sovereigns of gold jewelry and silver items from the suspects, identified as P. Tygarajan (35), K. Venkatesh (36), E. Satish (30), A. Saravanan (23), E. Bharathi (36), S. Gopi (39), and M. Pushparaj (27).
The burglary occurred while the victim, 62-year-old hotelier S. Raja, and his family were in Chennai for wedding preparations. Upon their return on March 22nd, they discovered their house had been broken into. Katpadi police, utilizing forensic evidence and CCTV footage, launched an investigation. Five special teams, formed under the direction of Superintendent of Police N. Mathivanan, led to the arrests.
A routine vehicle check near Vellore resulted in the apprehension of Venkatesh and Satish, whose inconsistent statements and lack of vehicle documentation led to their confession and the subsequent arrest of the other five suspects. All seven are currently in custody at the Central Prison in Vellore, pending further investigation.
