**Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, March 26, 2025** – Residents of ward 29 in Dindigul staged a protest on Wednesday, blocking a road with empty water pots to highlight a severe drinking water shortage. The protest, which lasted over half an hour and caused a traffic jam, followed three days without water supply in the area, a significant decrease from the previously inadequate half-hour daily supply.
Residents, particularly those on Gandhiji New Road and Adi Shiva Kovil Street, claim repeated complaints to the Dindigul Corporation have been ignored. The prolonged drought has left most water bodies dry, exacerbating the issue.
Corporation and police officials arrived at the scene and promised to provide temporary relief through water tankers while working on a long-term solution to ensure adequate water supply. Following this assurance, the protesters dispersed.
