**New Delhi:** BJP MP Jagdambika Pal has strongly criticized Rahul Gandhi’s claim that he was prevented from speaking in the Lok Sabha, calling it a misleading statement and accusing the Congress leader of lacking interest in the parliamentary system. Pal’s comments follow Gandhi’s Wednesday assertion that he was denied the opportunity to address the House on issues such as the Maha Kumbh Mela and unemployment.
Gandhi claimed that despite requesting speaking time, he was repeatedly prevented from doing so, alleging that the Speaker adjourned the House without allowing him to speak. He further stated that the opposition is not given a fair chance to voice its concerns in Parliament.
However, Pal countered these claims, stating that no member is prevented from speaking in the Lok Sabha and questioned Gandhi’s infrequent participation and lack of engagement in parliamentary proceedings. He pointed out Gandhi’s limited presence and contributions to debates and bill discussions.
The exchange comes amidst the ongoing second part of the budget session of Parliament, which began on March 10th and continues until April 4th. The incident has highlighted the ongoing tensions between the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress.
