**RAMESWARAM, TAMIL NADU** – Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu, on April 6th to participate in Ram Navmi celebrations. His visit will include a prayer at the Ramanathswamy Temple and the inauguration of the newly constructed Pamban Bridge.
The new bridge, a 2.5 km structure costing Rs 535 crore, replaces the 1914 bridge which was decommissioned in December 2022 due to significant corrosion. Built by Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), the modern bridge is designed to accommodate faster trains and increased traffic volume. Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw hailed the project as a symbol of progress and modern engineering, highlighting its status as India’s first vertical lift railway sea bridge.
The Prime Minister’s visit comes after he and President Droupadi Murmu extended greetings to Bangladesh on its National Day (March 26th). Both leaders emphasized the strong and multifaceted relationship between India and Bangladesh, highlighting cooperation in trade, connectivity, development, and cultural exchange. The messages reiterated India’s commitment to a prosperous and stable Bangladesh.
