**NEW YORK, NY** – Acclaimed actress, director, and producer LaTanya Richardson Jackson was recently honored with a portrait unveiling at the iconic Sardi’s restaurant. The event coincided with her current starring role in the Broadway production of *Purpose*, at the Helen Hayes Theatre.
Richardson Jackson, a two-time Tony Award nominee, is a powerhouse in both stage and screen. Her Broadway credits include memorable performances in *A Raisin in the Sun*, *To Kill a Mockingbird*, and *Joe Turner’s Come and Gone*. She made history as the first woman to direct an August Wilson play on Broadway with the 2022 revival of *The Piano Lesson*. Her extensive resume also boasts numerous film and television roles, including appearances in *Grey’s Anatomy*, *Luke Cage*, and *Show Me a Hero*.
*Purpose*, a new play by Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, marks a significant milestone with Phylicia Rashad making her Broadway directorial debut.
