**Mumbai, March 27, 2025** – Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray today criticized the Maharashtra government for its perceived double standards in handling cases of alleged insults. He highlighted the summons issued to comedian Kunal Kamra for a parody targeting Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, while actor Rahul Solapurkar faced no action despite remarks deemed offensive to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Thackeray pointed out that while Kamra was summoned twice for insulting someone the UBT considers a “traitor,” Solapurkar, who questioned a popular account of Shivaji Maharaj’s escape from Agra Fort, escaped any similar repercussions. Solapurkar’s comments, which suggested Shivaji Maharaj bribed Mughal officials, sparked outrage among some right-wing groups.
Thackeray further criticized the BJP’s “Saugat-e-Modi” outreach program to Muslim families, accusing the party of hypocrisy. He recalled past accusations of abandoning Hindutva when the Shiv Sena received significant support from Muslim voters. He stated that those who previously criticized the party for this support are now embracing similar outreach strategies.
