Wed Mar 26 16:02:52 UTC 2025: ## Priest Sentenced to Life Imprisonment for Murder of Niece
**Hyderabad, March 26, 2025** – A 36-year-old priest from Shamshabad has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of his niece, Karuganti Apsara. The Rangareddy District Court also imposed a fine of ₹10 lakh on Ayyagari Venkata Surya Sai Krishna.
Sai Krishna, who worked as a priest and building contractor, confessed to killing Apsara after she threatened to expose their extra-marital affair. The affair began in April 2022 and ended in March 2023 when Apsara demanded marriage. Fearing social repercussions, Sai Krishna lured Apsara to a remote location in Shamshabad on June 3, 2023, where he smothered and bludgeoned her to death.
He then kept her body in his car for two days before disposing of it in a drainage manhole. Sai Krishna even accompanied Apsara’s mother to the police to file a missing person report, but inconsistencies in his statements and mobile phone data led to his arrest on June 5, 2023. His confession subsequently led to his conviction.
