Thu Mar 27 09:48:58 UTC 2025: **Telangana BJP Leader Urges Chief Minister to Protect Kancha Gachibowli Green Space**
Hyderabad, March 27, 2025 – Union Minister and Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy has called on Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to preserve a 400-acre plot of government land at Kancha Gachibowli as a national park. Reddy’s request, delivered in a letter on Thursday, also includes the protection of an additional 800 acres of surrounding land.
The BJP leader cited the area’s rich biodiversity, which includes 734 tree species, 220 bird species, deer, pythons, and endangered star tortoises, as reasons for preservation. He emphasized the importance of protecting this vital green space, particularly given the increasing concretization of the capital region.
Reddy’s letter highlighted the planned auction of the land by the Telangana Government Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC), urging the Chief Minister to halt the process. He reminded Reddy of a previous pledge to avoid auctioning government land and warned that further development would severely damage the area’s ecology and negatively impact nearby residents and the University of Hyderabad. The letter concludes with a plea to preserve the land for future generations.
