**Bengaluru, March 27, 2025** – The Karnataka State government announced the formation of a new committee to oversee water management throughout the state during the upcoming summer. Headed by the Chief Secretary, the committee will comprise reservoir officials and water management experts. The initiative, announced by Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H.K. Patil, aims to improve water storage and release from reservoirs, going beyond the existing Irrigation Consultative Committees.

In addition to the water management plan, the Cabinet approved several other key initiatives:

* **Spoorthi Soudha Construction:** Construction of the Spoorthi Soudha building, near Vikas Soudha, was approved at a revised cost of ₹85 crore. The foundation stone laying ceremony is scheduled for April 14th, coinciding with Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Jayanti.
* **Data Centre Policy Amendment:** Amendments to the Karnataka Data Centre policy will provide subsidized power to companies.
* **Eco-Sensitive Zones:** Periphery regions of Bankapura Wolf Sanctuary, Uttaragudda Sanctuary, and Arsikere Bear Sanctuary will be declared eco-sensitive zones. A proposal to revise the eco-sensitive zone around Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary has also been sent.
* **Mysuru Heritage Restoration:** ₹14.64 crore will be allocated to restore the Karnataka Kalamandira, Rangayana, and Vishwa Kannada Sammela Guest House in Mysuru.
* **Sub-Registrar Office Modernization:** Infrastructure and human resource management in sub-registrar offices will be handled under a Build Own Operate (BOO) model at a cost of ₹637.45 crore.
