Thu Mar 27 08:04:02 UTC 2025: ## Four Children Die After Alleged Food Poisoning at Lucknow Rehabilitation Center
**Lucknow, March 27, 2025** – Four special needs children died and sixteen more fell ill after allegedly consuming a meal at a government rehabilitation center in Lucknow’s Para area on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. The victims, aged between 12 and 17, were residents of the center which houses 147 children, mostly orphans and those with mental challenges.
The children were rushed to Lokbandhu Hospital, where two succumbed to their illness. Two more critically ill children, transferred to another hospital, also died. While the condition of the remaining sixteen has improved, they remain under observation. The District Magistrate, G. Vishak, confirmed the deaths and stated that post-mortem examinations and viscera preservation are underway. He has formed a committee to investigate the cause of the suspected food poisoning.
Medical Superintendent Dr. Rajeev Kumar Dixit reported that the children arrived at the hospital severely dehydrated. He stated that despite medical intervention, four children perished. The Health and Food Safety Departments are investigating, collecting food samples for analysis, and interviewing affected children. Further action will be taken based on the investigation’s findings. A medical team is monitoring the remaining children at the shelter home.
