**TIRUPATI, March 27, 2025** – The annual nine-day Brahmotsavams festival at the Sri Kodandarama Swamy temple in Tirupati commenced Thursday with the Dhwajarohanam ceremony. This important ritual involves the hoisting of a sacred flag, imprinted with the image of Garuda, atop the temple’s flag post.
The flag was hoisted during the auspicious Mesha Lagnam, between 9:15 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., by officiating priest Bharat Kumar Deekshitulu. The ceremony was accompanied by Vedic chants and traditional music.
Later in the day, the processional idols of Sri Sita Lakshmana Sametha Kodandarama received a celestial bath, known as Snapana Tirumanjanam. The event was attended by prominent figures including the Pedda Jeeyangar and Chinna Jeeyangar, senior and junior pontiffs of the Tirumala temples, along with other temple officials. The Brahmotsavams festival is expected to continue for nine days.
