Thu Mar 27 09:02:27 UTC 2025: ## Kerala CM Accuses Corporate Media of Anti-Left Bias

**Kozhikode, Kerala – March 27, 2025** – Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan today accused certain corporate-driven media outlets of creating an “anti-Left narrative” in the state through biased reporting and misrepresentation of facts. Speaking at the inauguration of the Deshabhimani newspaper’s new office in Kozhikode, Vijayan claimed this bias poses a threat to the country’s secular fabric.

He cited the Walayar sexual assault case and a recent drug seizure at a polytechnic college as examples of biased journalism, alleging that some media outlets focused on the cases only because of alleged involvement of pro-Left workers and dropped coverage once the truth emerged. Vijayan criticized the growing trend of individuals defaming the Left being celebrated as heroes.

The Chief Minister expressed concern over the increasing corporatization of media, including vernacular news channels, which he said prioritizes corporate interests over public interest and the needs of the state. He specifically criticized some previously respected media organizations for now exhibiting politically biased reporting, ignoring the interests of the people and the state due to extreme corporatization. Vijayan called for better media analysis practices to help the public understand this shifting media landscape and discern the truth.

The event was also attended by CPI(M) State secretary M.V. Govindan, Kozhikode Mayor Beena Philip, and Deshabhimani Chief Editor Puthalath Dinesan.
