Wed Mar 26 19:30:00 UTC 2025: ## China Rejects US Intelligence Report Labeling it Top Military Threat

**Beijing, March 27, 2025** – China vehemently dismissed a new U.S. intelligence report identifying it as the most significant military threat to the United States and predicting it will surpass the U.S. in artificial intelligence capabilities by 2030. The report, released Tuesday, also names Iran, North Korea, and Russia as major challenges to U.S. interests across various sectors.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun denounced the report as a biased attempt to perpetuate the “China threat” narrative and justify suppressing China’s growth. He asserted that China’s development is self-driven and aimed at improving the lives of its citizens and contributing positively to the world. He emphasized that China has no intention of surpassing or replacing any other nation.

The U.S. report, however, highlighted China’s rapid military modernization, its technological advancements (including concerns about intellectual property theft), and its dominance in crucial mineral resources for the semiconductor industry. It also expressed concerns about China’s potential to seize Taiwan, suggesting the People’s Liberation Army is making progress towards that goal. China reiterated its claim to Taiwan as an internal affair.

The report also noted a strengthening partnership between North Korea and Russia, lessening North Korea’s reliance on China, and highlighted the likelihood of an upcoming North Korean nuclear test.

Mr. Jiakun urged the U.S. to abandon its Cold War mentality towards China, cease containing China under the guise of “strategic competition,” and stop supporting Taiwanese independence. The debate continues to highlight escalating geopolitical tensions between the two superpowers.
