**Hyderabad, March 27, 2025** – Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy announced that Telangana’s cotton farmers have significantly benefited from a substantial increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for cotton and large-scale procurement by the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI).
The MSP for cotton has risen from ₹3,750 per quintal in 2014-15 to ₹7,121 per quintal in 2024-25, Reddy stated. This increase, coupled with CCI’s procurement of 210.19 lakh quintals of cotton worth over ₹15,556 crore in the current season, directly aided nearly nine lakh farmers in Telangana, the third-largest cotton producer in India.
Over the past decade (2014-25), the central government procured ₹58,000 crore worth of cotton at MSP, benefiting countless farmers. Reddy emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting farmers by procuring cotton at MSP whenever market prices fall below this level. The establishment of 110 cotton procurement centers across Telangana for the current crop season further underscores this commitment.
The minister highlighted the government’s comprehensive support for farmers, encompassing soil testing, seeds, fertilizers, equipment, loans, insurance, irrigation projects, storage facilities, and MSP procurement. He credited the Modi government with standing firmly with farming families in Telangana during times of low market prices.
