Thu Mar 27 03:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Boston’s Women’s Soccer Team Unveils New Name: Boston Legacy FC
**BOSTON, MA –** After a widely panned initial attempt, Boston’s professional women’s soccer team has officially rebranded as Boston Legacy FC. The team’s previous name, BOS Nation FC, faced significant backlash last October due to its awkward spelling and poorly received marketing campaign.
The new name, selected after an extensive renaming process involving surveys of over 1,500 fans and soccer professionals, aims to reflect the team’s commitment to the city’s rich sporting history and its diverse community. Chief Revenue Officer Amina Bulman, hired from the Washington Commanders following their own successful rebranding, emphasized the thoroughness of the process, highlighting the consistent positive feedback received for “Legacy” across all demographics tested.
The team collected over 500 name suggestions and conducted focus groups before narrowing the choices to fourteen, ultimately selecting “Legacy” based on extensive market research. Bulman stated that the process yielded “universally consistent” results favoring the new name. The team’s choice is intended to emphasize a focus on Boston’s diverse communities and the long-term impact the club aims to have.
The rebranding follows the withdrawal of Linda Henry, CEO of Boston Globe Media Partners, from the team’s investor group. Other key steps ahead for Boston Legacy FC include securing a corporate partner for stadium naming rights at White Stadium in Franklin Park, finalizing a training facility, establishing front-of-kit sponsorships, and hiring a head coach and players. The team plans to debut in the NWSL in March 2024. The team’s new wordmark and crest are expected to be revealed in late spring or early summer. A legal challenge to the $200 million public-private renovation of White Stadium is also pending a decision.
