VISAKHAPATNAM, March 26, 2025 – The All India Gig Workers Union in Visakhapatnam is demanding increased protection for delivery workers following the assault of a delivery boy three days ago. Union president B. Jagan stated at a press conference that Anil, a delivery worker, was assaulted and humiliated by a resident of a gated community in Seethammadhara. While the resident was arrested following intervention from neighbors and locals, Mr. Jagan criticized the lack of response from the delivery app company.

The union is calling for stricter laws to prevent such attacks and improve working conditions for delivery workers. Mr. Jagan highlighted the low daily earnings, often less than ₹500, despite long working hours. He urged the government to provide job security and strengthen legal protections for gig workers.
