Thu Mar 27 03:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Skating Club Rebuilds After Devastating Crash
**Boston, MA** – Two months after a devastating plane crash claimed the lives of 67 people, including six members of the Skating Club of Boston, the club is preparing for the World Figure Skating Championships. The crash, which occurred on January 29th in Washington D.C., involved a passenger jet colliding with an Army helicopter over the Potomac River. Among the victims were 28 individuals affiliated with the skating community, including 11 young athletes and four coaches, two of whom were the club’s renowned 1994 World Pairs Champions, Vadim Naumov and Evgenia Shishkova. Promising young skaters Jinna Han (13) and Spencer Lane (16) also perished in the accident.
Despite the immense tragedy, the Skating Club of Boston, a century-old institution, has found strength in its community. The club, which had planned a celebratory gathering following the recent national championships, instead became a place of mourning and support in the wake of the crash. Members gathered to grieve and offer comfort to one another, demonstrating the close-knit nature of the skating family. Now, with the World Championships approaching, the club is facing the challenge of moving forward, relying on the enduring spirit and resilience forged within its walls.
