Thu Mar 27 04:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Islamic Scholar Urges Seizing the Virtue of Laylat al-Qadr
**Amman, Jordan** – Islamic preacher Dr. Amr Khaled has encouraged Muslims to make the most of Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Power, believed to be the 27th night of Ramadan. In the 26th episode of his Ramadan program, “Prophet of Kindness,” Khaled stated that the majority of scholars, including the revered companion Abdullah ibn Abbas, identify the 27th night as Laylat al-Qadr. He cited the work of scholars specializing in Quranic numerology, pointing to the 30 words in Surah al-Qadr and the 27th position of the phrase “peace until the break of dawn.” He emphasized the significance of the night, noting that it was when the Prophet Muhammad received his prophethood and the first revelation of the Quran. Khaled warned against missing the opportunity to gain immense reward, quoting the Prophet’s saying that whoever misses Laylat al-Qadr misses all good.
Khaled highlighted the miraculous nature of Laylat al-Qadr, explaining that even a simple request can yield extraordinary results, encompassing both worldly and spiritual blessings. He detailed the actions of angels on this night: securing prayers and making supplications exceeding those of the supplicant. He listed seven major blessings bestowed upon those who observe the night, ranging from increased piety and divine love to expanded livelihood and enhanced understanding.
Khaled defined “Qadr” as something constrained, illustrating how Laylat al-Qadr, despite its limited time, unlocks blessings exceeding those of a thousand months. He presented the night’s essence as a journey from constraint to expansive opening, using the Prophet Muhammad’s experience as the prime example: his seclusion in the Hira cave followed by the revelation of prophethood. He outlined three significant tidings associated with Laylat al-Qadr: the acceptance of prayers performed with faith and sincerity, the liberation of souls from hellfire, and the immense reward surpassing a thousand months. Khaled also shared three recommended prayers and emphasized the importance of seeking forgiveness (“Ya ‘Afu,” Oh, Forgiver) as a key to unlocking the night’s blessings. He concluded by stressing the need for humility, repentance, and seeking God’s purpose in life during Laylat al-Qadr.
