**Chennai, March 26, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu government is taking proactive steps to combat the ongoing heatwave, according to Health Minister Ma. Subramanian. Addressing the Assembly on Tuesday, the Minister detailed the state’s preparedness, which includes stocking essential medicines and allocating hospital beds specifically for heat-related illnesses.

Responding to a call attention motion raised by Congress legislator J.G. Prince, Minister Subramanian presented a report outlining the government’s strategy. This involves real-time monitoring via the Integrated Health Information Platform – National Programme on Climate Change and Human Health, ensuring an adequate supply of medical resources.

The government has allocated between two and ten beds in primary health centers, government hospitals, and medical colleges to treat heatwave victims. Ambulances are on standby, and a Standard Operating Procedure for treatment has been implemented. Furthermore, the availability of drinking water and oral rehydration solutions in public areas has been ensured.
