Wed Mar 26 05:29:30 UTC 2025: ## Kozhikode Hospital Attack Suspects Acquitted Due to Lack of Evidence
**Kozhikode, Kerala, March 26, 2025** – A Kozhikode court acquitted all suspects involved in an August 2022 attack on security guards at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. The incident, which saw three guards – K.A. Sreelesh, N. Dinesan, and Raveendra Panikkar – sustaining serious injuries, along with an assault on a mediaperson, stemmed from a dispute over unauthorized entry. Most of the accused were reportedly members of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI).
Despite police presenting CCTV footage as evidence, the court ruled in favor of the accused due to a lack of sufficient evidence, as the injured security guards changed their testimony during the trial. One guard required months of hospitalization for internal injuries. The altercation began when DYFI workers were denied entry without visitor passes and escalated when they allegedly attacked the guards attempting to remove them from the premises.
