Wed Mar 26 05:29:30 UTC 2025: ## Kozhikode Court Acquits DYFI Activists in 2022 Hospital Assault Case
**Kozhikode, Kerala, March 26, 2025** – A Kozhikode Principal Assistant Sessions court today acquitted all accused in a case involving an alleged assault on security guards at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital (MCH) in August 2022. The majority of the accused were members and leaders of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI).
The court cited a lack of evidence for the acquittal. While police presented CCTV footage as evidence, the three injured security guards – K.A. Sreelesh, N. Dinesan, and Raveendra Panikkar – became hostile witnesses during the trial. One guard suffered severe internal injuries and required months of hospitalization. A journalist was also allegedly assaulted during the incident.
The clash stemmed from an altercation over the DYFI workers’ attempt to enter the hospital without visitor passes. When security personnel tried to remove them, a group of suspected DYFI activists allegedly retaliated with violence.
