Tue Mar 25 18:13:58 UTC 2025: **BJP Cracks Whip on Rebel Leaders in Karnataka**
Bengaluru, March 25, 2025 – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) central leadership has issued show-cause notices to several prominent party members in Karnataka, including key supporters of state president B.Y. Vijayendra and rebel MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal. The move comes nearly 45 days after Yatnal received a similar notice and is seen as a message that the party’s disciplinary code applies equally to all factions.
Those receiving notices include MLAs M.P. Renukacharya and Katta Subramanya Naidu (from Vijayendra’s camp), B.P. Harish (another rebel leader), and former ministers S.T. Somashekhar and Shivaram Hebbar. The notices cite violations of party discipline, specifically public criticism of internal affairs. Recipients have 72 hours to respond.
The action against Somashekhar and Hebbar, who previously joined the BJP via “Operation Kamala” and have since expressed loyalty to the Congress, is viewed as a separate issue, foreshadowing potential action against those who switch allegiances without resigning.
The timing of the notices, just before the selection of the next state president, is considered significant, highlighting the party’s efforts to maintain internal discipline. The BJP has now issued show-cause notices to leaders from both the rebel and Vijayendra camps, emphasizing the party’s commitment to its disciplinary code.
