Wed Mar 26 06:25:33 UTC 2025: ## Seven-Vehicle Pile-Up on Pune-Bengaluru Highway; One Injured

**Belagavi, Karnataka, March 26, 2025** – A series of collisions involving seven vehicles resulted in a significant traffic jam on the Pune-Bengaluru national highway near Kanavi Kuruvinakoppa village in Belagavi district late on March 25. While the incident caused extensive damage to two trucks, a container vehicle, three Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) buses, and a motorcycle, only one person sustained minor injuries.

The chain reaction began when a container truck driver lost control on a bend, causing the vehicle to overturn. This triggered a domino effect, with a following truck and then two KSRTC buses colliding. A fifth KSRTC bus attempting to avoid the pile-up struck a motorcycle. Miraculously, the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, escaped serious injury despite ending up under a bus.

Police attributed the accident to drivers taking the sharp turn at a steep gradient on Badekolla hill at excessive speed. The resulting kilometre-long traffic jam lasted over an hour. Police from Hirebagewadi station cleared the road using cranes to remove the damaged vehicles.
