**Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh – March 25, 2025** – Emilia B. Smith, Public Diplomacy Officer for Public Engagement at the U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad, visited Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) and Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV) in Tirupati on Tuesday. The visit aimed to strengthen educational collaborations between the US and Indian institutions.

At SVU, Ms. Smith met with Vice-Chancellor Ch. Appa Rao and other officials to discuss existing partnerships, including MoUs with Purdue and Northeastern Universities, and programs like the USIEF and Fulbright Foreign Student Program. Discussions focused on reviewing these collaborations and exploring future opportunities.

Ms. Smith’s visit to SPMVV included talks with Vice-Chancellor V. Uma and Registrar N. Rajani. A key topic was the upcoming U.S. Government-funded English Language Fellow Program, designed to enhance students’, researchers’, and faculty’s English language skills for improved employability and academic success.

Following her visits, Ms. Smith stated that the meetings provided valuable insights into the operations of Indian universities, encompassing their academic structure, research activities, and community engagement initiatives.
