**Luhansk, Ukraine** – A Ukrainian artillery strike in the Luhansk region of eastern Ukraine has resulted in the deaths of six people, including three journalists working for Russian media outlets, according to Leonid Pasechnik, the Russia-installed governor of the region.
Pasechnik reported on Telegram that the strike killed Alexander Fedorchak, a journalist with Izvestia; Andrei Panov, a cameraman; and Alexander Sirkeli, a driver, both working for the Russian Ministry of Defence’s television channel, Zvezda. A 14-year-old child was also among the victims.
This marks the second death of an Izvestia journalist in Ukraine this year, following the death of a freelance reporter in January.
The Luhansk region, along with Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson, was annexed by Russia in 2022, despite not being fully under Russian control. The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has lasted for over three years.
