**Chennai, March 25, 2025** – Renowned Tamil actor and karate instructor Shihan Hussaini passed away early Tuesday morning at his Besant Nagar home after a brief battle with blood cancer. He was 65.
Hussaini, a multifaceted figure also known for his archery expertise and artistic talents, leaves behind a significant legacy in Tamil Nadu’s sports and arts communities. He founded the Archery Association of Tamil Nadu (TAAT) and served as its general secretary, playing a pivotal role in the growth of archery in the state. TAAT members lauded his contributions in a statement expressing profound grief.
Beyond his athletic and administrative achievements, Hussaini was a sculptor, painter, and a celebrated martial arts instructor who inspired countless young people. He gained widespread recognition for his unique performances, including a blood painting of former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and a feat involving breaking numerous tiles and bricks.
His acting career spanned several decades, with notable appearances in films such as *Punnagai Mannan* (with Kamal Haasan) and *Velaikaran* (with Rajinikanth). He also starred in *Bloodstone*, *Unnai Solli Kutramillai*, *Badri*, *Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal*, *Chennai City Gangsters*, and *Vedan*.
In a poignant gesture, Hussaini donated his body to medical research while battling leukemia.
