**Chennai, March 25, 2025** – K. Annamalai, president of the Tamil Nadu BJP, accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of misrepresenting the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020’s three-language formula. Annamalai contends that the policy promotes multilingualism and does not impose Hindi, contradicting Stalin’s claims made in the state assembly.

In a post on X, Annamalai criticized Stalin for portraying the NEP as a Hindi imposition, alleging it reinforces the DMK’s agenda to limit multilingual education access to only the affluent. He cited the state’s own budget allocations as evidence, pointing to ₹11 crore spent on Sanskrit promotion in 2024-25 and a ₹10 crore allocation for 2025-26. Similar figures were provided for other languages. Annamalai challenged the Chief Minister to explain the DMK government’s actions to support Sanskrit and other languages within the state. The dispute highlights ongoing tensions surrounding language policy in Tamil Nadu.
