Mon Mar 24 17:16:25 UTC 2025: ## Rahul Gandhi Leads Student Protest Against Modi Government’s Education Policies
**New Delhi, March 24, 2025** – Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi led a protest on Monday at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, rallying student organizations from the INDIA alliance against the Narendra Modi government’s education policies. The protest targeted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the UGC’s draft rules on Vice-Chancellor appointments, and recent exam paper leaks.
Gandhi accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of aiming to destroy India’s education system and future, claiming the organization is influencing university vice-chancellor appointments and pushing a “one history, one tradition, one language” agenda. He further criticized the government’s silence on unemployment, inflation, and the state of education, alleging a plan to hand over resources to select corporations and institutions to the RSS.
Mayukh Biswas, general secretary of the Students Federation of India and one of the protest organizers, echoed Gandhi’s concerns, highlighting the increasing corporate control over higher education and the negative impact of NEP 2020 on school education. Biswas announced plans for a similar protest in Mumbai on Wednesday.
The protest drew widespread participation from student organizations across India, signifying a unified opposition to what they described as a “privatisation-communalisation nexus” within the education sector.
