ERODE, TAMIL NADU – March 25, 2025 – The DMK Erode Central district unit has urged the District Collector to address a critical drinking water shortage in the Perundurai Assembly constituency. Thoppu N.D. Venkatachalam, the unit’s in-charge, submitted a petition highlighting inadequate water distribution due to delayed salary payments to pump operators. He called for immediate intervention to ensure sufficient water supply during the summer months.
The petition also addressed concerns in the Bhavani Assembly constituency where students face a 50 km commute to college, hindering access to higher education for many children of daily wage earners. Venkatachalam requested the establishment of a local arts and science college to improve educational opportunities. Finally, he sought adequate compensation for farmers who have lost cattle to stray dog attacks across the Erode district.
