**Mysuru, Karnataka, March 25, 2025** – A new Namma Clinic was inaugurated today in Mysuru’s Narasimharaja constituency, expanding access to basic healthcare services for the urban poor and lower-income groups. The clinic, located on Abdul Rahman Road in Rajivnagar 2nd Stage, was opened by MLA and former Minister Tanveer Sait.

The clinic, staffed with a doctor, nurses, ASHA workers, and paramedical staff, will offer primary healthcare services, including treatment for non-communicable diseases and common ailments. Surgeons will also make weekly visits. More advanced cases will be referred to government hospitals.

Mr. Sait highlighted that the constituency now boasts two Namma Clinics and eight Primary Health Centres (PHCs), serving a population of approximately 80,000 per PHC. The new clinic is situated on a spacious premises, addressing a need in a densely populated area.

The Namma Clinic initiative, modeled after the central government’s Health and Wellness Centres (HWCs), aims to alleviate the burden on existing healthcare facilities and provide free primary care to underserved populations previously reliant on private clinics. Funding for these clinics was announced in the 15th Finance Commission budget. Each clinic is staffed with a medical officer, a nurse, and clerical staff.

The inauguration was attended by DHO H.C. Kumaraswamy, Siraj Ahmed, and other officials. The expansion of Namma Clinics represents a significant step towards improving healthcare accessibility in Mysuru.
