**Belagavi, March 25, 2025** – Shubham Shelke, a youth wing leader of the Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES), was arrested by Belagavi police on Monday for allegedly insulting Kannada speakers and inciting Marathi speakers against them. Shelke faces multiple charges, including delivering inflammatory speeches, disrupting linguistic harmony, and organizing a function honoring individuals who had insulted Kannadigas. Police cite several instances of his anti-Kannada rhetoric, including public statements and a video justifying the assault of a bus conductor. He is also accused of felicitating Tippanna Dokre, who allegedly threatened a village official to speak only Marathi. The arrest follows a complaint filed at the Malmaruti Police Station based on these allegations. Shelke has pending cases against him.
