**New Delhi, March 26, 2025** – Minister of State for Minority Affairs George Kurian asserted Tuesday that India is the safest country in the world for minorities, contrasting the situation with neighboring Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, and Sri Lanka. Speaking at a National Minority Commission (NCM) meeting in Delhi, Kurian highlighted numerous government schemes aimed at empowering minority communities. He cited the plight of minorities in other nations, specifically mentioning the persecution of Christians in Pakistan and China, the Rohingya crisis in Myanmar, and the Easter Sunday attacks in Sri Lanka as examples. He also claimed that even European countries, despite their advocacy for minority rights, experience regular communal violence.
