**Beijing, March 25, 2025** – India and China have held further talks aimed at easing tensions along their disputed border, signaling a continued thaw in relations. Officials from both countries met in Beijing as part of the Working Mechanism on Consultation and Coordination of India-China Border Affairs. The Ministry of External Affairs in India stated that discussions included the resumption of cross-border cooperation and exchanges, such as initiatives related to trans-border rivers and the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra pilgrimage.
This latest round of talks follows positive statements from both sides. China welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assertion that a “normalcy” has been achieved at the border, echoing his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping where both leaders expressed a commitment to restoring ties to pre-2020 levels while managing disagreements. Earlier this year, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited China and held meetings with top Chinese officials, including Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Minister Wang had previously noted “positive strides” in India-China relations, highlighting the progress made since the resolution of the long-standing military standoff in eastern Ladakh. The ongoing dialogue suggests a concerted effort by both nations to improve bilateral ties.
