**Chennai, March 25, 2025** – The Tamil Nadu government has amended the Lokayukta Rules of 2018, allowing outsourcing for up to one-third of the anti-corruption body’s staff. The amendment permits outsourcing for specific roles, including System Analyst (1 post), Record Clerk (5 posts), and Office Assistant (20 posts). This represents approximately 26 out of the Lokayukta’s 103 sanctioned posts.
Previously, these positions were to be filled by transferring employees from the Secretariat. The amended rules now offer outsourcing as an alternative recruitment method. Outsourcing was already permitted for certain support staff roles, such as Drivers, Messengers, Sweepers, and Watchmen, since the initial 2018 rules. The decision to expand outsourcing to other categories has generated discussion.
