**Visakhapatnam, March 25, 2025** – GITAM Deemed-to-be University hosted a workshop titled “Let Us Do Science” aimed at revitalizing science education in Visakhapatnam. The event, sponsored by the Department of Science and Technology – National Council for Science & Technology Communication (DST-NCSTC) and supported by the Department of Education, emphasized hands-on learning and practical experimentation.

Speakers urged teachers to move away from rote learning and foster a sense of curiosity and independent discovery among students. The use of technology, including simulations, Augmented Reality (AR), and Virtual Reality (VR), was highlighted as a means to enhance interactive learning and safely conduct complex experiments.

Regional Joint Director of Education B. Vijay Bhaskar stressed the importance of engaging students through practical models, while Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT) president (for A.P.) Joga Chandrasekhar Rao emphasized the significance of practical learning and experimentation. Prof. K. S. Krishna highlighted the teacher’s crucial role in nurturing students’ enthusiasm for science.

The workshop also underscored the need for collaboration between government institutions, educators, and students to achieve the national Viksit Bharat vision. Participants discussed the standards educators must meet to ensure effective teaching and student motivation.
