Tue Mar 25 12:30:31 UTC 2025: ## Hyderabad Summit Highlights Need for Sustainable Transportation Solutions

**Hyderabad, March 25, 2025** – Experts at the Infrastructure and Real Estate Summit 2025 in Hyderabad stressed the urgent need for sustainable transportation solutions to address the challenges of rapid urbanization and increased vehicle traffic. The summit, attended by prominent figures including former Chairman of CII Telangana C. Shekhar Reddy and Chairman TGRERA N Satyanarayana, highlighted the necessity of a multi-pronged approach.

Key recommendations included prioritizing non-motorised transport with improved pedestrian infrastructure, strengthening rail networks and enhancing last-mile connectivity. S. Venkata Kumar, President of Operations and Engineering at Balaji Railroad Systems, emphasized that roads should prioritize people, not cars, making non-motorised transport the top priority followed by robust rail infrastructure.

Sudhakar Reddy Chirra, Founder and Chief Electric Officer of Fresh Bus, advocated for a multimodal transportation system similar to London’s, emphasizing the need for collaboration between civic authorities, traffic police, transport undertakings, and ride-hailing apps to alleviate road congestion in Hyderabad.

The increasing number of vehicles also necessitates innovative parking solutions, according to N. V. Ramana, Director of Marine Car Parx. He stressed the need for vertical parking in high-rise buildings and densely populated areas to address the growing parking shortage.

Chirra also debunked the myth that electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing is highly polluting. He presented data showing that EVs produce 71% lower emissions than diesel and petrol vehicles, with only 34 gm of carbon emissions per kilometer compared to 150 gm for conventional vehicles.

The summit also addressed concerns within the real estate sector, with N Satyanarayana emphasizing the importance of building trust with homebuyers by addressing information asymmetry. C. Shekhar Reddy raised concerns about double taxation in the sector.
