ERODE, March 25, 2025 – A thirteenth suspect surrendered to a court in Erode today in connection with the brutal murder of history-sheeter John alias Chanakya last Sunday. Chanakya, 35, was hacked to death on the Salem-Coimbatore National Highway while traveling with his wife. The attack, carried out by a four-member gang, left the attackers injured; they are currently hospitalized in Coimbatore.

Following the murder, police investigations led to the arrest of five suspects on Monday night. These arrests followed the earlier surrender of two suspects, Saleem and Jeevan, and another suspect, Gokula Sunganeswaran, on Monday. Today’s surrender brings the total number of arrested and surrendered suspects to thirteen. Police believe the five arrested individuals followed the murder gang in a separate car. All suspects have been produced in court and remanded to prison. The investigation continues.
