**Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu – March 24, 2025** – The mining and geology community in Tamil Nadu has been urged to embrace modern techniques and strictly adhere to regulations to ensure sustainable mining practices. This call came from G.C. Sethi, Regional Controller of Mines at the Indian Bureau of Mines, Chennai, during the valedictory function of the Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation (ME&MC) Week.
The event, jointly organized by the ME&MC Council, Tamil Nadu, and Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd., saw participation from 43 mines. Sethi emphasized Tamil Nadu’s mineral wealth and the importance of environmentally responsible mining.

Vinayagamurthi, Executive Director of Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd., highlighted the ME&MC Week as a platform for industry engagement with local communities and a demonstration of commitment to sustainable mining practices. The event also included an awards ceremony recognizing individuals and organizations for their contributions to environmental conservation and sustainable mining. G. Sornadurai Kannan, Senior Mining Geologist from the Indian Bureau of Mines, Chennai, was also in attendance.
