Tue Mar 25 05:13:31 UTC 2025: ## UP Police Ordered to Submit Report on Delhi Arrest

**New Delhi, March 25, 2025** – The Delhi High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police director general to submit an inquiry report regarding the arrest of a Delhi resident in the capital without informing local authorities. The court’s order follows a habeas corpus petition filed after a man was allegedly abducted from Connaught Place on February 18th by UP Police and taken to an unknown location in Uttar Pradesh.

The petitioner, Satinder Singh Bhasin, was released by a UP court the following day. The Delhi High Court, noting the violation of inter-state arrest protocols, previously requested a report from the Greater Noida police commissioner. The court has emphasized the importance of preserving all relevant CCTV footage of the incident.

The court also addressed a video alleging the petitioner was misusing its orders, stressing that the habeas corpus petition’s purpose was to ensure the petitioner’s safety, not to settle personal disputes. The petitioner alleged physical assault and manhandling, prompting the court to request the petitioner’s medical report. The UP Police stated that an FIR was registered against the petitioner in Greater Noida for theft-related offenses. The Delhi High Court’s order highlights concerns about inter-state police jurisdiction and the need for adherence to established procedures.
