Mon Mar 24 17:43:15 UTC 2025: ## Stand-up Comedian Kunal Kamra Faces Threats After Show Sparks Controversy

**Mumbai, March 24, 2025** – Stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra is facing renewed controversy after a video of his show targeting Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde led to a police FIR and vandalism. The situation took a bizarre turn when a recording of a phone call between Kamra and an apparent Shiv Sena supporter went viral, amusing many online.

In the 53-second audio clip, the caller, identifying himself as Jagadish Sharma, threatens Kamra with violence, referencing the vandalism of the Habitat Comedy Club in Khar, where Kamra’s show was recorded. The studio and a nearby hotel were damaged by Shiv Sena workers on Sunday evening. While the authenticity of the audio clip hasn’t been independently verified by NDTV, the conversation reveals a comical exchange where the caller initially mistakes Shinde for the Chief Minister, before threatening to track down Kamra in Tamil Nadu, where the comedian currently resides. The call ends abruptly with the caller seeking guidance from a superior.

The audio clip has been widely shared on social media, with many, including Congress leader Supriya Shrinate, describing it as humorous. Several users pointed out the irony of the caller’s struggle to locate Kamra in Tamil Nadu.

Meanwhile, Mumbai police filed an FIR against Kamra on Monday for his remarks about Shinde. Kamra, however, has stated he does not regret his comments and will only apologize if ordered by a court. He also denied allegations of receiving payment from the opposition to target Shinde. In a statement, Kamra criticized those who leaked his phone number, adding that all unknown calls are directed to his voicemail.
