**Kalaburagi, Karnataka –** The BJP staged a protest in Kalaburagi on Tuesday, condemning the Karnataka government’s amendment to the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurements Act (KTPP Act), which provides a 4% reservation in government tenders for minority contractors. Party leaders and workers burned an effigy of the Congress government, calling the reservation unconstitutional and undemocratic.
The protest, held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Chowk, also criticized the suspension of 18 BJP MLAs from the Assembly for six months. Protesters demanded the immediate revocation of the suspensions and accused the Congress government of neglecting welfare schemes for Other Backward Classes (OBCs), citing the lack of allocation for OBC welfare in the recent budget. Prominent BJP leaders, including MLAs and former office-holders, participated in the demonstration, which culminated in a march to the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
