Tue Mar 25 15:41:46 UTC 2025: ## Palakkad Police Officer Injured in Hit-and-Run by Suspected Drug Peddler

**PALAKKAD, March 26, 2025** – An assistant sub-inspector of police suffered a fractured leg after being struck by a car driven by a suspected drug peddler in Kavassery panchayat near Palakkad on Monday night.

Uvais Periyamkulam, 46, and his team from the Vadakkanchery police station were investigating a drug peddling complaint when the incident occurred. While attempting to stop a car at Chemmanamkunnu around 8 p.m., the driver sped off, hitting the officers.

Police have arrested 20-year-old Prathul Poolakkalparambu from Kottayam district in connection with the incident. A small quantity of MDMA was reportedly recovered from him. Mr. Periyamkulam is currently receiving treatment for his injuries.
