Mon Mar 24 17:44:38 UTC 2025: ## Congress Demands Minister’s Resignation Following CBI Arrests in Puducherry

**Puducherry, March 25, 2025** – Former Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy, leader of the Congress party, is demanding the resignation of Puducherry’s Public Works Minister, K. Lakshminarayan, following the arrest of senior PWD officers by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Narayanasamy alleges the arrests are a stain on the AINRC-BJP government and indicative of widespread corruption.

The CBI investigation, according to Narayanasamy, highlights a pattern of alleged wrongdoing within various government departments, including PWD, Excise, Smart City projects, Land Registration, and Local Administration. He asserts the Chief Minister bears ultimate responsibility for the actions of his officials, claiming they could not act without his knowledge.

The Congress plans to launch a campaign demanding the Minister’s resignation and calls for a thorough, impartial CBI investigation into the corruption allegations. The CPI, a Congress ally, echoed these concerns, stating the arrests of the Chief Engineer and Executive Engineer of PWD further validate accusations of widespread graft within the government. The CPI highlighted previous arrests of senior Revenue Department officials, emphasizing the need for accountability at the ministerial level. Both parties contend that taxpayer money is being squandered due to rampant corruption within the AINRC-BJP administration.
