**Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh –** A 22-year-old woman in Auraiya district has been arrested for allegedly plotting the murder of her husband just two weeks after their wedding. Pragati Yadav, along with her long-term lover Anurag Yadav, hired a contract killer to eliminate her 25-year-old husband, Dilip, police said.
The couple, who had been in a relationship for four years, were forced into separate marriages by their families. Dilip and Pragati married on March 5th. However, their short-lived union ended tragically on March 19th when Dilip was found critically injured with gunshot wounds in a field. Despite being transferred to several hospitals, he succumbed to his injuries on March 21st.
Following a complaint filed by Dilip’s brother, police launched an investigation, uncovering a chilling plot. Pragati and Anurag, unable to reconcile after her forced marriage, allegedly paid contract killer Ramaji Chaudhary Rs 2 lakh (approximately $2,400 USD) to carry out the murder. Chaudhary, along with accomplices still at large, lured Dilip to a field, beat him, and shot him before fleeing the scene.
Police apprehended Pragati, Anurag, and Chaudhary based on CCTV footage. Authorities seized two pistols, ammunition, a motorcycle, and other evidence linking the trio to the crime. The manhunt continues for the remaining suspects. All three arrested individuals are facing charges of murder and conspiracy.
