**COIMBATORE, March 24, 2025** – Kottaimedu’s Eswaran Kovil Street transformed into a culinary haven as residents celebrated Iftar during Ramzan. The narrow street, lined with restaurants and shops, buzzed with activity as people flocked to purchase evening snacks. A diverse range of treats were on offer, from traditional favorites like crispy vadais, bondas, and bajjis to unique specialties.

Varna Café’s mini bun sandwiches, priced at ₹10-₹15, proved a popular choice, especially among children. Owner Salman Tarif explained their affordability was key to their success, selling out within an hour. The café also offered free Iftar meals to 20 people.

Kaima Kanji Shop, the only place offering nonbu kanji, a fragrant dish of lentils, rice, and minced beef, offered a unique culinary experience. Prepared using a family recipe passed down for generations, the kanji, priced at ₹40, was often accompanied by 15 varieties of other snacks.

Cold drinks and juices were also in high demand. Nungu paal, a milk-based drink with palm fruit, and Mohabbat ka sharbat, a refreshing concoction of milk, sugar, rose petals, watermelon, and Rooh Afza, were particular crowd-pleasers. Fruizy juice shop sold 30 liters of Mohabbat ka sharbat daily.

Bangalore Steaks and Kebabs offered a selection of chicken and beef kebabs, boasting spice mixes sourced from Bengaluru. Their tandoori chicken kebab, paired with idiyappams, was a highlight, priced from ₹80 to ₹140.

Finally, Juicy Fort offered a unique Arabian egg cake, a fluffy sweet treat whose recipe remains a closely guarded secret.

The vibrant atmosphere and diverse culinary offerings showcased the spirit of Ramzan in Kottaimedu, providing a delightful blend of traditional and unique Iftar experiences.
